We would like to congratulate the four inaugural winners of the Staurulakis Family Scholarships given out as part of the Foundation for Rural Service’s (FRS) 2012 scholarship program. FRS awarded over $95,000 for 35 scholarships to rural youth across the United States, and four students were selected to receive the $5,000 Staurulakis Family Scholarships, which give preference to outstanding applicants with an interest in science, math, medicine, or engineering.

Scholarships honor JSI’s founder in celebration of the company’s 50th anniversary
As part of JSI’s 50th Anniversary celebration in 2012, Manny and Leo Staurulakis have made a generous donation to the Foundation for Rural Service (FRS) to establish four ongoing scholarships in honor of their parents, John and Chresanthe Staurulakis. The annual FRS Staurulakis Family Scholarships will fully fund four $5,000 scholarships each year for students planning to pursue science, math, medicine or engineering.

It seems hard to fathom today, but it was not all that long ago that associate members played an almost inconsequential minor role in substantive matters at NTCA. The association in those days did not view associate members as potential partners in serving its telco members and did not regularly solicit associates’ input in plotting its future course.
